SponsorGauge is operated by Sponsytech OÜ, an Estonian company. We built it with Appeared.in. We may share what we need with Appeared.in so they can help run the community: reading applications, moderating, and keeping the room invite-only.

Sponsy (the sponsorship software) and Appeared.in (the media intelligence product) are separate products. Using SponsorGauge doesn't give you an account there. How we may contact you about those products, and how we may use patterns from this community inside them, is below.

When you request access: your name, email, publication, role, audience size band, categories, and a website or profile URL.

If you join: the same kind of profile information, whether you prefer to post anonymously by default, and which emails you want.

When you post: reviews, asks, comments, whether a post is anonymous, whether a brand paid, whether you'd work with them again, and the answers that make up a score. We do not ask for rates, contracts, or subscriber counts. Please don't paste those in.

To keep you signed in, we use a session cookie. We also store basic session details, such as when you last used the service. We may keep a technical identifier on the session, like an IP address or browser info, for security.

We send emails through Resend: login codes, whether your application was approved or declined, comment notifications if you leave those on, and the occasional note about Sponsy or Appeared.in if we think it would actually help.

On the live site we use Plausible Analytics on our own server. It records page views, outbound links, and a few tagged events. It is not advertising, and we do not use it to identify you as a person.

People who operate the community get internal alerts when someone applies or posts, so we can review applications and keep an eye on the room.

We use this to decide who gets in, to run the community, to show your posts to other members, to email you about your posts if you want that, to keep the service secure, and to see how the site is used. We may also email you about Sponsy or Appeared.in, and use aggregated patterns from the community to improve those products.

Under GDPR, that usually means:

• Taking steps on your application, then running your account (a contract, or steps at your request).
• Our legitimate interest in running a private, invite-only community, moderating it, and keeping it secure.
• Our legitimate interest in telling you about Sponsy or Appeared.in, and in using aggregated patterns to improve those products. You can object to the emails anytime.
• Consent, where we ask for it, such as some emails.

You can turn comment emails off in settings.

Brands cannot join, and they cannot see inside.

Other members can see your reviews, asks, and comments. If a post is named, they see your name and publication. If it's anonymous, they still see that you're a verified member, plus your categories and audience size. Not your name, and not where you work.

Anonymous is not a promise that nobody can guess who you are. A specific story, a small niche, or the combination of categories and size can still point to you. Don't write anything you couldn't live with being tied back to you.

People who operate SponsorGauge can see applications, accounts, and posts, including anonymous ones. That's so we can decide access and moderate. We would not be able to run a private room if we couldn't.

SponsorGauge is run by the same company as Sponsy, and built with Appeared.in. They are still separate products. Your reviews stay in this room.

We may email you about Sponsy or Appeared.in. A specific note if we think it would help with how you sell, not a dump of what you posted. Reply, unsubscribe, or email [email protected] and we stop.

We may use what the community shows us, in aggregate, inside those products. Patterns. Which kinds of brands pay late. What operators keep asking about. Not your name, not your publication, not a review a brand could match to you. Nothing private or specific leaves the room.

We don't sell your data. We don't share it with brands. We don't hand anyone a list of who said what.

We use a few companies to run the service: hosting, email delivery, and analytics. Some of them may be outside the EEA. We only give them what they need to do their job.

If the law requires it, we may disclose information. If we ever hand the service to someone else, this data would go with it, still under a privacy policy like this one.

The cookie we set is the one that keeps you logged in. The service does not work without it.

Plausible does not use advertising cookies. We do not run a cookie banner for ads, because we don't run ads.

Applications stay while we decide, and for a while after so we know who we've already looked at. We don't keep declined applications longer than we need.

Accounts and posts stay while the community exists and your account is open. If you ask us to close your account, we will. Reviews you posted may stay in anonymized form, because other members already relied on them. We can also remove content when we moderate.

Session records expire on their own.

If you're in the EU or EEA, or another place with similar rules, you can ask us to show you what we have, fix it, delete it, limit how we use it, object to some uses, or give you a copy.

Email [email protected]. We'll need to confirm it's you.

You can also complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon), or to your local authority.

SponsorGauge is for people who sell sponsorships as part of their work. It isn't something we offer to children.

If this policy changes in a way that actually matters, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the change is big, we'll try to email members.
